Red Panda Cub, 5 Week Update & Video

At five weeks old, the Red Panda cub, born on June 8th, is progressing well. The young male is being hand reared due to the lack of weight gain and inconsistencies in care from his mother during the first 2 and ½ weeks after his birth. Red Panda cubs have a high mortality rate in their first few months. He currently weighs 1 pound and has steadily gained strength and mobility. You might catch a glimpse of the cub through the window at the Murray E. Fowler Veterinary Hospital during feedings around 11am and 3pm daily  12 pm and 4:15 pm daily (as of 8/5/13).
